Want to help us cover the effort to transform public education? Do you believe in building the future of strong, sustainable journalism? Do you love to learn on the job?
Chalkbeat is hiring mission-driven journalists, business staff, and technologists who believe an independent local press is vital to ensuring that education improves. We’re seeking an executive assistant to work closely with our CEO in our Washington, D.C. office, helping her execute key duties across the organization. The right candidate will be highly organized, comfortable working at a fast pace, and a strong communicator with a willingness to learn and grow.
We’re seeking a passionate, enterprising reporter to join our national reporting team. The national reporter will be responsible for writing a range of stories. A typical week in your reporting life might include breaking news about a growing charter school network, synthesizing local stories about teachers strikes, and explaining challenges facing refugee students.
We’re seeking a staff accountant to assist with Chalkbeat’s day-to-day financial operations in accordance with standard accounting procedures and help us continue to grow. The staff accountant reports directly to Chalkbeat’s director of finance.
Chalkbeat is dedicated to equal employment opportunities for all applicants and employees. Chalkbeat encourages people of all races, colors, national origins, ancestries, creeds, religions, genders, ages, disabilities, veteran status, sexual orientations and marital statuses to apply.
