The Colorado State Board of Education on Wednesday approved the latest round of school quality ratings. The ratings, based largely on test scores, help the education department identify schools that need help boosting student learning.

Here’s a breakdown on this year’s ratings from highest rating to lowest rating:
- Performance, 1,205 schools (69.7 percent)
- Improvement, 318 schools (18.3 percent)
- Priority Improvement, 120 schools (7 percent)
- Turnaround, 39 schools (2.3 percent)
Another 46 schools received no rating because of insufficient testing data either because their student population is too small or because too many students opted-out of the state’s English and math tests.
