These Marion County schools saw the greatest gains and biggest drops on 2018 ISTEP

While suburban districts and private schools consistently dominate the annual lists of highest performing schools on ISTEP, each year dozens of other schools see their passing rates dramatically change.

There can be many reasons behind big jumps, or drops, in passing rates, but they can often hint at school transformations — such as changes in principals, curriculums, and students. They can also offer valuable opportunities for other schools to learn what might help move the needle on the state test.

  3. Tindley Genesis Academy (charter school) — 17.2 percentage point increase
  4. Southport Presbyterian Christ School (private school) — 17 percentage point increase
  5. Tindley Preparatory Academy (charter school, now closed) — 15.7 percentage point increase
  6. Shepherd Community Academy (private school) — 15.1 percentage point increase
  7. Brookview Elementary School (M S D Warren Township) — 13.1 percentage point increase
